Update on Los Pinos

(map) Fires have been much in the news lately. Two months ago, fans of this old-school Tex-Mex place (we’ve posted about their amazing salsa and equally amazing 70s-style decor here and here) were stunned to learn that it caught fire and burned. The good news is, they’re rebuilding! And it looks like they’re keeping that time-warp facade. Progress continues apace, so they may well be “back soon.” Looks like at least a couple of months.

Total bummer – I haven’t been there in a while but always leave impressed. Hudson Bend isn’t on my normal route – was this a kitchen fire or did part of Hudson Bend get hit by the wild fires?
Ed. reply: Neither – this fire started two months ago, on the opposite end of the restaurant from the kitchen. It began in the wall around 3 am. Even the fire marshall has no idea what started it. Rampaging squirrels? The good news is, Los Pinos will be better than ever! We will post again when it reopens.
