(map)¬†Tex Mex Beer. The phrase must strike a chord with local beer-lovers. In just one year, the crafty brewmasters at Twisted X have moved from a warehouse space to a fancy new tasting room in Drippin’. Their “Mexican-style beers brewed by Texans” are moving into taps and onto shelves all over ¬†Austin. Thanks to new laws, you can mosey up to the bar and buy a flight (above) or a pint, if you already know your chosen brew.

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, you can enjoy your beer outside if the weather’s nice, or in the new tasting room. Brewery tours are given on the hour. Feel free to BYOF (bring your own food).

Currently on tap: the Twisted X lager, made with local corn; Cow Creek, reminiscent of Negra Modelo, the jalapeno-infused pilsner Fuego; Chupahopra, the hoppy IPA ale. Senor Viejo, aged in tequila barrels, is higher in alcohol, so not on the flight list. Flights and tours are definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area, or perhaps even make a day of the breweries in Drippin’ (see a great list of local drinks and eats here).
