They’re back!

(map) After a terrible fire last July that left the place a charred shell, Los Pinos is back and just as badass even better than ever. The dining rooms seem bigger and brighter thanks to large new windows, and the recipes are still a notch above standard Tex-Mex, including the addictively spicy fresh salsa. Below, the Lakeway Classic Car guys gather for the first day’s opening, a beautiful day for an outing.

Re-building the place hasn’t caused Los Pinos to beef up the prices. Breakfast tacos are still $1.49, and there are 20 lunch deals for $7.59, including free iced tea. Above, the Chicken Enchiladas with poblano-peanut sauce, a sophisticated sauce with a touch of nutty spiciness. You get your choice of refried beans smoky with bacon, charro or black beans on the side. The enchiladas are filled with tender white chicken breast.

The place is packed with regulars who’ve badly missed the place for the last five months. It’s the same great family atmosphere, made brighter by widening windows and opening up the wall that previously divided the interior in half.

There’s a full bar, with beer, wine, margaritas, even Mexican martinis. One exterior change: the old turquoise front is now a sunny yellow. Cheers!
