24 Aug 2011UPDATE: closed (map) Austin’s food-trailer craze continues to spread out West! We’ve posted previously about Rosita’s here. This week they’re joined by barbecue trailer The Spot, with several more on the way. Chef Will trained at the Cordon Bleu, so The Spot has more of a gourmet approach to ‘cue, with dishes like a Kobe beef burger and the Texas Philly, which subs brisket for the classic cheesesteak sandwich. Above, the brisket plate, featuring lots of tender, smoky meat, well-seasoned fried green beans, and coleslaw sprinkled with sunflower seeds and cracked black pepper.
The Texas Philly, made with chunks of smoked brisket, sauteed peppers, onions and mushrooms, and melted cheese. Yum.
Chef Will at his enormously large pit. He buys his meats and produce locally, and plans to add new menu items in the coming weeks, like salads and whole smoked chickens. Watch Will serving a whole roasted pig here.

Do you guys have a website and/or an address for this place?
Ed. Reply: On the post, there is a link to a map where The Spot is. Its official address is 3205 RR 620 North, in the parking lot of Blanchard’s Upholstery and next to Frozy’s. They don’t have a website, but after tonight, will have an official Facebook page at TheSpotATX. We are trying the Texas Philly cheesesteak tomorrow; maybe we’ll see you there!
