The Mystery of Mandola’s Wine

In the beginning, there was Mandola wine. And it was good. Award-winning, even. Then it mysteriously became Duchman (pronounced duke-man) Winery, yet with an almost-identical label. And now Mandola wine is back, but only at Mandola’s! What the what? Turns out the Mandolas and the Duchmans were originally partners in the winery, but due to strange Texas liquor laws, you can’t serve any wine you make yourself at your own restaurant. So the Duchmans took over and are gradually phasing in their own labels. Meanwhile, Damian Mandola wisely selected acclaimed winemaker Kim McPherson to create Mandola’s new Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Amarosso wines. Available by the glass or bottle at all Mandola’s Italian Markets and at Trattoria Lisina, his lovely restaurant in Driftwood (get a look at the place here).
