Texas Wine Lover’s Trail

In: Drinking|Eating|Music

13 Feb 2012

This special Valentine’s event from the Texas Hill Country wineries is going on from now till next Sunday the 19th. (See more info about the trail here.) Ticket-holders get a special box of chocolates created to pair with red and white wines, then hit the trail for free tastes at any of 33 participating wineries. Buy a season pass to all four trails, and you get a special Riedel glass, below.

The trail is popular, especially on weekends. Above, the main tasting room at Becker Vineyards is packed. Fortunately, they’ve also opened an outdoor tasting area where you can spread out a little and relax with a glass of your favorite.

Each winery offers a variety of food choices, ranging from cheese plates to portable pizza ovens to food trailers like Crepe Nation. On the day’s menu: such exotic fare as sweet and savory crepes made with mascarpone cheese, yum.

Most wineries feature live music on weekends. Despite the recent chilly weather, heaters and a fire-pit at Grape Creek Winery warmed up the crowd.

Most wineries sell wine-related merchandise year-round. For Valentine’s Day, they’ve upped the romance factor. Some heart-y selections at Grape Creek Winery and the crowd in one of the tasting rooms, below.

Delysia Chocolates made a special appearance at Becker to help pair wines with their artisanal chocolates. Below, when you buy your ticket, just look for the “Wine Trail” check-in area and get ready to taste. Cheers!
