(map) Is there a more famous sunset than this one? Set high on a cliff overlooking Lake Travis, the “Sunset Capital” is celebrating its 30th anniversary. A few years back, a big fire set off by lightning burned down 80% of the place, but it’s back and still growing. At last count, there were 800+ outside tables along multiple decks, with camera-toting visitors at every single one. When the sun officially sets, everyone applauds, hundreds of cameras go off, and the staff bangs a gong. It’s a good spot to have a drink and enjoy the show.

The Oasis is kind of like crack for us: we know the food won’t be that good, we know it will be crowded and the wait will be long, we know it’s overpriced…but every time we leave Hippie Hollow, sunburned and starving, it’s the only place we can think of to go. We’re sunset addicts or something.
