Sunrise Cafe

(map) This cheerful place is actually two restaurants, with two different owners: by day, the Sunrise Cafe, by night, the Goodnight Diner (see review here). It’s an unusual arrangement, but diners in Drippin’ benefit from the creativity of two chefs. From 6 am to 2 pm, Sunrise serves both breakfast and lunch made with all-fresh ingredients, “nothing canned or frozen.” Fresh house-made salsas accompany dishes like the Huevos a la Mexicana, above. Scrambled eggs with tomatoes and serrano peppers come with lots of bacon, beans, fried potatoes and freshly made tortillas.

The simple dining room is decorated with an ever-changing display of art for sale.

Huevos Rancheros are your choice of eggs, in this case over-easy, topped with house-made salsa. There are four to choose from, ranging from mild to wild. They also serve migas, breakfast tacos, pancakes and omelets.

The experience in this restaurant was good, the food is ok and the tamales are the best I have ever tried. If you want the best tamales, this is the place!
