Red’s Fresh Food

(map) Wood-grilled mahi-mahi? That’s something you don’t see everyday at a fast-food joint. But Red’s is no ordinary joint. Opened just last week by a local couple (her nickname is Red), whose motto is “Fresh food fast.” The owners’ goal is to prepare everything themselves using as many fresh ingredients as possible. The menu offers a lot of variety, like this grilled mahi-mahi, above. Served on a ciabatta roll with tomatoes and lots of creamy, ripe avocado, the meaty fish had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill.

Red’s also grills hand-made burgers and hot dogs, as well as Mediterranean specialties, like this Souvlaki Pita. Made with tender, juicy pork tenderloin, served on a soft pita with tangy dill-and-cucumber tzatziki sauce they make themselves. There’s also a chicken souvlaki and a variety of salads, desserts and hand-scooped ice cream. And most important, beer and wine!

Order at the counter and they’ll give you a number to pick up your food. The kid-friendly dining room is clean and contemporary, with wooden tables and booths lining the wall.

Another specialty sandwich, Red’s Schnitzel, features a tender pork cutlet hand-breaded with crunchy panko bread crumbs. Served with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and Red’s “special sauce.”

Don’t want to get out of your car? There’s a drive-thru on the side. This may become your new favorite fast-food joint!

The place is really cute. The pork schnitzel was amazing and the best chocolate sundae I’ve ever had! I will be back here often!

I think the food is air at best. Given their “order in line” approach, they need to eliminate the tables immediately in front of the order counters. Who wants to eat with people standing over them. Nothing special about this place.. especially the food.,
