Pecan Street Brewing

(map) If you’re heading to Johnson City to check out the holiday lights, you should also check out this brewpub. It’s on the courthouse square, next to the old jail. Hence the name for their first brew: County Jail Pale Ale. They’ve got several others on tap, as well as a nice selection of local wines. It’s a fun, casual place, with live music on weekends.

They’re serving a variety of salads, burgers made with fresh-ground local beef, and this new burger featuring ground lamb topped with feta cheese and peperoncini peppers. A brick oven turns out some excellent, crisp-crust pizzas. Below,”The Mediteranno,” a pesto base topped with lots of fresh spinach, kalamata olives and feta.

The place is in an old historic building that they’ve done a nice job renovating. You can see the brewing tanks behind the bar. The dining space is roomy, and there are some couches up front where you can lounge with your brewskis. Cheers!
