Pace Bend Park

(map) Who needs Acapulco for cliff-diving when we’ve got Pace Bend Park? Not Mikey and TJ, two crazy dudes thrill-seekers boldly leaping off these scenic cliffs. But the park has a lot more to offer than just an adrenaline rush. With nine miles of lakefront and hundreds of acres, it never feels crowded, even on weekends. There are shallow beaches for easy swimming, plus boat launches, camping, picnicking, hiking and most important, lots of restrooms.

The park has two boat ramps to launch from, and 20 swimming coves. For safety, some of the coves are for swimmers only.

With nine miles of shoreline along Lake Travis, it’s easy to find an uncrowded spot. The east side of the park features shallow, sloping beaches you can drive right onto.

There’s lots of camping in the park, both the primitive kind, where you just pitch a tent, and improved, with barbecue grills and restrooms.

This is one of seven county parks on Lake Travis.
