UPDATE: closed (map) Vivo Lake Creek has always had an appealing menu, and now, with the addition of award-winning chef Paul Petersen, it’s even better. The chef says he isn’t changing any menu favorites, just “bringing in some barbecue and French influences.” Above, the new brisket tacos, featuring beef smoked in-house for 15 hours, topped with a little pico and shredded monterey jack cheese. Lots of good smoke flavor, and both beef and beans are nice and tender.

Also new are crab enchiladas, tequila-braised pork belly, and these shrimp nachos. The shrimp are rubbed with spices, then grilled, topped with cheese and a delicious roasted-poblano cream sauce. The salad in the middle is dressed with a spicy ancho-chile vinaigrette. The chef has also revamped the wine list. Cheers!

Even with all this heat, multiple fans make sitting out by the large fountain bearable.

As is longstanding tradition here, all ladies leave with a rose!
