9 Dec 2011UPDATE: closed (map) Cute concept! The idea is that your mother has packed your lunch for you, so every order comes with a note from “Mom.” The soups, salads and sandwiches here are billed as “a little more special,” with touches like salad dressings, meat loaf and tuna salad made in-house. The atmosphere is cute as well, with a chalkboard menu, colorful tablecloths and whimsical salt-and-pepper shakers on every table.
Your lunch order arrives in a paper bag, complete with a note from “Mom.”
There are hot sandwiches, like the veggie, above, as well as grilled panini, like this ham and brie. An apricot-chile relish gave the panini a nice touch of sweet-and-heat.
The chalkboards are filled with humorous pictures and sayings from “Mom,” and every table has a different set of vintage salt and pepper shakers.

We office at the Galleria so I am a regular. Today’s soup is Caldillo, yum!

Great review. I’m so glad this place opened in the Galleria. I was getting tired of all the same old lunch options where I office.
Mom tweets the soup of the day and more quirky quips if you follow http://www.twitter.com/lovemomlunchbox. Yesterday was Beef Chili and today’s is Mexican Caldillo!

I had the green chili chicken and dumplings and a tuna sandwich. Hands down the best new place I have been to in a long time for great food. I will definitely go back and take friends!

Can’t not order the “Roma”. Three times I’ve gone in with the intention of trying something else and never get anything else. Guess I’ll have to keep trying.
