It would be hard to find a more mellow, laid-back spot than this. Located in a funky old rock house, La Cabana has been serving up good Tex-Mex to families out in Spicewood for almost a decade. Above, the Queso Especial, a creamy, thick queso with guacamole and spicy ground beef. It was so hearty, it kept breaking the chips! Below, the Tacos al Pastor, three tacos filled with big pieces of sweet, tender pork grilled with pineapple. They’re topped with chopped onion and cilantro, with a fiery sauce on the side.
Chicken mole enchiladas were filled with plump white chunks of chicken breast. They’re covered with rich mole sauce, a complex blend of subtle flavors, and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
They just upped the casual factor with this area outside. It’s a great setting for the newly opened palapa bar, with lots of benches and tables under the trees. There’s also an outdoor stage for live music Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This guy below was helping set up the band.
Places don’t get more casual than this! It’s almost like being in Mexico.
