UPDATE: closed (map) Although it’s really more of a tequila bar than a restaurant, this colorful cantina does offer a few culinary treats from the cocina. Sandwiches and salads, wraps and apps, all fresh-tasting and following the interior-Mexican vibe of the, well, interior. This chunky guacamole is some of the best we’ve had, slightly spicy and made without tomato or onion.

Fresh ceviche departs from the standard lime marinade, using sweet pineapple instead. Surprising at first, then you start to wonder, why don’t more places do it this way?

The cantina is divided between the bar and dining room, with the long dining area lined with colorful murals painted by a local artist. The festive “Day of the Dead” theme is muy popular in Mexico.

They serve a variety of tasty tacos here. Above, the guajillo-chile-dusted fish taco, and below, the Live Oak Beer brat. The sausage is braised in beer for extra flavor, then served with sauteed onions and spicy mustard.

The bar offers at least 40 beers and 70 different tequilas, with lots of fancy cocktails on the side. While the focus is on sipping, you’ll also find plenty worth snacking on.

Handmade tortillas?

Ed. Reply: They say no, but “almost everything else is made fresh in-house.”

i was really excited when i read the menu but the two salads i’ve tried were both disappointing. very little meat on the pork salad and the taco salad was more of a country club type chopped salad. will try some other dishes before scratching them.

Ed. Reply: Good idea! We want to try the tortas next. Highly recommend the guac.

Jugo is AWESOME! They have done an amazing job with the finish out! Great people, great drinks & great food!!!! We love the hours too!!!
