Hill Country Water Gardens

(map) This place is on five acres, and every inch is filled with something interesting. It is an absolute mecca for anyone looking for water features. Who knew there were so many types of ponds? Bridge ponds. Shade ponds. Disappearing-stream ponds. Bogs! If you’re in the market for a bog, here’s your place. They’ve got water features made from almost anything: carved rocks, garden statues, exotic Asian pottery. There are 10 big show ponds here to give you visual ideas, and smaller displays everywhere. The philosophy is that everyone has room for some kind of water feature, and it is really inspirational to see them all in one place.

They'll build and install a pond for you or sell you all the components so you can build your own. This doesn't exactly look like a DIY project!

A disappearing-stream pond, where the water seems to vanish into the ground.

Fountains made with colorful contemporary pottery.

Hollowed-out rocks from Big Bend create a disappearing fountain.

There’s something going on every Saturday; check the event calendar here: HCWG website
