Happy Hour at Buenos Aires Cafe

(map) If you’re a fan of the tasty Argentinian dishes served here, good news! You can enjoy them for less during happy hour Monday through Saturday. There are a variety of tapas, or small plates, like these serrano ham and manchego-topped toasts, above. Slices of fresh-baked baguettes are rubbed with tomato and olive oil, then piled high.

Shrimp cocktail features a generous serving of fresh jumbo shrimp. Below, the chorizo, grilled sausage drizzled with spicy chimichurri sauce and tomatoes.

There are also specials on wine, beer, and cocktails, as well as salads and five different stuffed empanadas. The arty decor features Argentinean touches like these cowhide-covered mirrors. For more on Buenos Aires Cafe, go here.

I have dined here on a few occasions, hh, late dinner, etc with my husband. They claim to be open until 10 p. I tried to go in at 9:20 to sit on the patio with a friend. A rude woman approached me at the hostess stand and informed me that they were closed! The restaurant had tables of dining customers. I informed her I just wanted a quick glass of wine on the patio. She then told me the bar was closed! There was a bartender behind the bar. There was nothing weird (besides her, that is). I was dressed appropriately, I am a late 30’s nice looking mom of 4. I can easily say I will not be dining here again! There are plenty of options in this area. Gumbos has a fantastic hh!

Ed. Reply: Sorry to hear that; we wonder what was up that night. Gumbo’s DOES have a great happy hour, and it’s all day Saturday and Sunday!

I work at Reilly Realtors, which happens to be located next door to Buenos Aires, so I find myself visiting this restaurant quite often. I’ve never been there near closing time, so I can’t confirm Krendi’s unfortunate experience. Whenever I’ve dined there, I’ve found the food to be delicious (specifically the spinach salad and the Choripan). The atmosphere is great and the prices are good. I’d recommend it to anyone in the area.

Ed. Reply: LOVE the choripan, especially with chimichurri!
