Gumbo’s Happy Hour

In: Drinking|Eating

(map) Happy hour at this sizzling seafood spot is especially merry because it lasts all day, all weekend (and Mondays). Weekdays it’s set from 3 to closing, but on Saturday and Sunday, you can take advantage of this amazing deal any time. Half-price wine, $3 beers, and well-crafted appetizers for just $4 and $5. Above, the chunky calamari, made from calamari steaks, lightly fried and served with remoulade sauce and a spicy marinara. Below, a savory cup of Crawfish Etouffee was thick and spicy and so full of crawfish, there were crawfish in every bite. Lots of celery and bell pepper, too.

That’s the Shrimp Eddy, above, shrimp sauteed in a velvety lemon-tarragon sauce and served with grilled French bread. Below, the queso, piled high with lump crabmeat and served with house-made chips. You can also order gumbos, escargot and a deep-fried avocado stuffed with seafood. Cheers!

You can enjoy happy hour in either the inside bar or outside bar, or out on the patio, overlooking the lake. It’s tempting to toss some calamari out to the ducks, but save it all for yourself!

I always forget they’re back there. I think HH for dinner one night sounds like a great idea!
Thanks for the reminder.
