Driftwood Estate Winery

(map) Some wineries are all about the tasting room or the facilities or the gift shop. This one is all about the view (of course, they’re all serious about the wines). Located high on a hilltop with a beautiful view of row after row of grapevines, Driftwood is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

A former house has been redone into the tasting room and gift shop. It’s a pretty rustic setting that is busy and popular on weekends. You can take your wine out onto the porch, the picnic tables under the trees, or to the music pavilion.

You get to taste five wines for $5 ($10 if you want to keep the glass). Driftwood is known for its whimsical names like Armadillo Red, Longhorn Red and Red Rhythm, but also pours regular viognier, dry rose and a really good merlot.

The tasting room can get pretty crowded at times!

There’s live music playing most weekend afternoons. Musicians and times are listed on their website (at the end of this post).
