Classic Car Dudes

(map) Every Friday, rain or shine, these guys all motor over to meet at Sandy’s Hamburger Hut. Sometimes called the Lakeway Friday Car Club, they’re a loosely organized bunch with no rules, other than showing up on Friday. They admire one another’scars, trade tips on maintenance and repair, and have lunch. These guys are really passionate about their cars, and most of them own more than one. That means you never know who will show up driving what. Above, Ken and his ’66 Corvette Sting Ray. Back then, Stingray was still two words.

Big smiles on both Norman and his ‘49 DeSoto.

This 4-door, ‘41 Caddy convertible is owned by Ward. He owns five other classic cars, including a 1912 Model T Ford.

Classic cars can be ‘60s muscle cars or ‘40s touring sedans.

Back in the '40s, they really dug chrome.

It’s not all metal mammoths. There’s plenty of room for the little guys, too. This teeny Nash Metropolitan is the first American subcompact.

After all that car talk, time for lunch. And more car talk.

I’m currently building a Street Rod from a 1935 Plymouth 2 doot Businessman’s Coupe.

I read about your club in the newspaper. A friend and I would like to meet your club members next Friday for lunch.

Please contact me at my local cell 925-9903.
