(map) This afternoon, there’s a Block Party at the Galleria for the grand opening of Chisos Grill and several other new kids on the block. From the looks of things, seems like this southwestern/green-chile style of cooking is going to fit in nicely. Above, the New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger, a handmade burger topped with Hatch green chiles, pepperjack cheese and a chipotle aioli sauce.  Chisos offers a big menu ranging from burgers, steaks, ribs and pork chops to lots of salads, chicken and quail to gulf snapper, calamari, shrimp and oysters. Below, fried crab cakes, topped with chipotle sauce, over a deliciously crisp slaw made from Granny Smith apples and bacon.

The Ghost Bar features eight large TVs for game-watching, and a long list of beer, wines by the glass and specialty ritas, martinis and more. You can eat in the bar or in the roomy dining area decorated with Southwestern touches.

The pulled-pork queso, a savory concoction of tender pork, roasted poblano peppers and lots of cheese, is heaven in a bowl. The Block Party is today from 5 to 9, featuring live music, drink specials and prize giveaways. But even if you miss the party, with any meal here, you’ll still come out a winner.
