Bump n Grindz Cafe

(map) The name may suggest something of a stripper joint. But this cute cafe actually offers a surprising variety of eats and drinks, as well as locally produced coffees, olive oils and vinegars, and even fresh gelato. Located in a Spicewood strip center near Opie’s BBQ, the cafe recently expanded next door and will be offering dinners and hosting local supper clubs.

The espresso bar features locally roasted Cuvee Coffee, and serves up an assortment of coffee drinks to rival any coffee shop in town: latte, macchiato, cubano, frappe, just to name a few. One of the owners is Italian, and hence the emphasis on coffee, gelato and warm panini sandwiches. Below, that’s a tank of extra-virgin olive oil imported from Italy that you can dispense into self-serve, takeout containers.

These organic tamales are made locally, and were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Above, the pork-tomatillo; below, the poblano-queso. They’re served with two house-made salsas, red and green, which were flavorful and hot as a Spicewood summer. You can also get these with a truffled fried egg on top.

The menu also lists pastries, grilled paninis, wraps, sandwiches and specials. Nearby shelves offer local products like flavored oils, vinegars, hot sauce, coffee and tea for sale.
