12 Apr 2010Since I last posted about Java Dive Organic Cafe here, they’ve revamped their brunch menu. They still have the old faves, like breakfast tacos, bagels and paninis, but now they’re up to 11 different waffles, plus new things like migas and banana bread French toast.
What makes Java Dive different is their commitment to organic ingredients that taste great. For these migas, the eggs are scrambled with fresh pico de gallo, melted cheese and corn tortillas. The tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and cilantro give the dish a bright, spicy flavor. The perfectly simmered black beans make an earthy, comforting side dish.
You can choose from 11 different waffles, any of which can be made gluten-free. This is the Toasted Pecan waffle, served with real maple syrup and homemade whipped cream (again, organic). The waffle is crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. I’m nuts about toasted pecans, so I like that they give you a lot. On the side, a strip of smoky bacon.
They roast their own coffee beans, so they’re not just jivin’ about the java, it’s some good stuff. Java Dive is a relaxed, ultra-casual place with kids running around and people in workout wear (or “I meant to workout but decided to go have brunch instead wear”). Just what you need on a sleepy Sunday morning.
